Why Blood Donation Matters
Every 2 seconds, someone in the world needs blood. Blood cannot be manufactured—it can only come from generous donors.
A single blood donation can save up to 3 lives because blood is separated into red cells, platelets, and plasma.
Donating blood takes only about 10-15 minutes. The entire process, including registration and recovery, takes about an hour.
O-negative blood is the universal donor type and is always in high demand. AB plasma can be given to patients of all blood types.
Healthy adults can donate blood every 56 days (about 8 weeks). You can safely donate up to 6 times per year.
The need for blood is constant. Trauma, surgeries, cancer treatments, and chronic diseases all require blood transfusions.
